Hearing Loss Treatment

What is a cochlear implant?

A cochlear implant does not simply amplify sound, it restores one’s sense of hearing by bypassing the cochlea’s non-functioning parts and sending signals to the brain through electrical stimulation.

The internal component of the device (consisting of the implant body and electrode array) is surgically implanted and sits under the skin. The implant is connected to the external audio processor that transmits the sound to the internal device.

The benefits of a cochlear implant include:

  • Hearing better in both quiet and noisy environments
  • Ability to locate where sounds are coming from
  • Easier communication with friends and family

The Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Cochlear Implantation

The iotaSOFT® Insertion System is designed to deliver a slow and consistent electrode array insertion during the cochlear implant procedure. This provides your surgeon with added control during the most important part of the surgery – the array insertion.

Controlled Insertion

Gives your surgeon precise control during surgery, beyond what a human can achieve.

Confidence in Outcomes

Designed to preserve the delicate structure of your cochlea.

Latest Robotic Technology

First and only robotic-assisted insertion system in the US for cochlear implant surgery.

Why Choose MED-EL?

MED-EL provides the closest to natural hearing. The goal is for the sound quality of cochlear implants to match the sound quality of natural hearing. To achieve this, they have spent more than 30 years developing unique technologies that no other cochlear implant system can match.

Closest to Natural Hearing

FLEX electrode arrays are designed to cover and stimulate the entire cochlea for better hearing.

Outstanding Reliability

MED-EL implants are built for life, with top reliability, MRI safety, and over 99% long-term implant survival.

Lifetime of Better Hearing

All MED-EL implants are backward compatible so you’ll always have access to the latest technology.
