Hearing loss treatment

What is a Cochlear Implant?

A cochlear implant system includes several pieces of technology that work together to bypass the cochlea – restoring hearing by sending sound directly to the hearing nerve. The first is an internal component (the implant and electrode array) which is implanted by a surgeon. The second is a series of external components that is worn on the ear and attaches to the implant (the headpiece and processor).

The benefits of a cochlear implant include:

  • Hearing better in quiet and noise
  • Ability to find where sounds are coming from
  • Easier communication with friends and family

The Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Cochlear Implantation

The iotaSOFT® Insertion System is designed to deliver a slow and consistent electrode array insertion during the cochlear implant procedure. This provides your surgeon with added control during the most important part of the surgery – the electrode array insertion.

Controlled Insertion

Gives your surgeon precise control during surgery, beyond what a human can achieve.

Confidence in Outcomes

Designed to preserve the delicate structure of your cochlea.

Latest Robotic Technology

“The innovative technique removes some of the human variability between providers and standardizes the amount of movement within the cochlea. The goal is to preserve both structure and function while optimizing hearing outcomes that cochlear implants offer.”
